Epson partners with Nikon UK for photographic print-specific workshops

Epson has partnered with Nikon UK to provide photographic print technology and training modules at the Nikon School, based at the new Nikon Centre of Excellence in London.

The partnership will see print-specific workshops delivered by the Epson Print Academy added to the Nikon School course calendar, with courses starting later this month when a new 17in Epson Stylus Pro 3880 and a 24in Stylus Pro 7890 large-format inkjet printer will be installed at the Centre of Excellence.

The Nikon School aims to educate and inspire photographers at all levels, from amateur to professional, through a programme of workshops on a broad spectrum of technical and creative topics.  Current workshops range from ‘getting started’ introductions to Nikon digital SLR models to specialist techniques such as a ‘Fast Cars and Focusing’ day at a race track and a five-day residential workshop on ‘Winter Wildlife in the Cairngorms’.

Paul Gallagher, Epson Print Academy, says, “Epson’s partnership with Nikon unites great camera technology with great printing technology and will introduce even more photographers to the tremendous potential of digital print technology. Whether they’re just starting out or are established professionals, understanding today’s digital workflows â€" from capturing the original image through post-processing to producing stunning quality prints on a variety of media, will add a new dimension of enjoyment and creativity to their work.”

Initially four Epson Print Academy workshops will be offered by the Nikon School, starting with ‘Exhibition Quality Printing’ on October 31st and followed by ‘Master Post Processing’ (November 15th), ‘The Perfect Black-and-White Print’ (November 21st) and ‘Introduction to Photoshop CS’ (December 12th).  These workshops will be held at the Nikon Centre of Excellence in London W1.

Nikon School Training Manager Neil Freeman adds, “Our photography courses touch on print as part of the image-capture-to-output digital workflow but now, with the Epson printers and the Epson Print Academy courses, we can cover the key aspects of image output in greater depth.”

He continues, “Epson’s reputation for high-quality professional photographic printers, plus the proven educational resources provided by the Print Academy, made the company our partner of choice for print at the Nikon School.”

The Epson Print Academy is an established centre run by Paul Gallagher and Michael Pilkington of aspect2i, a leading provider of photography workshops, at Epson’s UK headquarters in Apsley, near Hemel Hempstead and other locations in the UK. The Epson Print Academy offers a wide selection of workshops, aimed at different ability levels and different aspects of photography and printing, that provide the skills, steps, tricks and tips needed to capture and create beautiful colour and black-and-white images and fine quality prints from Epson printers.
