Mimaki JV400-SUV to debut at FESPA 2013

Mimaki will be introducing the JV400-SUV at FESPA 2013 on stand J5S. The JV400-SUV printer was first shown at FESPA 2012 as a prototype and Mimaki says that the marketplace has been 'very enthusiastic' about the possibilities of Solvent UV curing since the introduction of this concept.

“Since its introduction at FESPA last year, the JV400 series of wide format printers has been installed at printers around the globe and has been recognised with several prestigious awards,” says Mike Horsten, General Manager Marketing of Mimaki EMEA. “The newest member of the JV400 family is the JV400-SUV, which uses Solvent-UV curable inks and delivers very high quality output with vibrant colours and excellent outdoor durability. We are excited to introduce this new member in our portfolio at FESPA 2013. The JV400-SUV printers will be shipping as of July 1st 2013."

The JV400-130/160SUV prints in four colours (CMYK) at speeds of up to 18 square meters per hour in draft mode. This truly unique printer combines the flexibility of solvent with the durability of UV-cured inks using innovative Mimaki inks developed specifically for this printer. In the printing process, the solvent component is absorbed by the ink-receiving layer of the media and the pigment is settled on to the media. The printed ink is then cured with a special UV light process, resulting in a smooth, high gloss appearance, which simulates coating, yet maintains the bright colours expected of a solvent printer.

UV curing also results in strong resistance to scratching and weather. Prints exit the printer completely dry, ready for immediate post-processing. Mimaki will also be showing its RasterLink6 RIP with the JV400-SUV, as well as with other printers being demonstrated at the show. The RasterLink6 RIP offers an intuitive single-window approach for selection of all options and easily converts special colours to Pantone colours and CMYK matching to ensure colour integrity.  Users can measure a target colour with an optional colorimeter and use RasterLink6’s Colour Picker System to accurately reproduce those targeted colours.
