London,UK-based Tecna Display, a Queenâs Award winner for Excellence in International Trade, is flying the flag for British design and manufacturing at the EuroShop show this week (16th to 20th February).
The company has chosen a British icon to showcase its retail and exhibition display system at the event â" London Transportâs Routemaster bus. Together with print specialist XG Group, the company has created an exhibition stand that mimics the AEC Routemaster from the 1950s, at a 3:4 scale. The bus has been constructed using Tecna Displayâs t3Airframe, with 329 tubes and 196 connectors linking together for a total length of 152m.
The t3Airframe is an advanced modular display system which is strong, lightweight, fast and easy to build. When clad in graphics, it creates retail walls, retail plinths and âshop in shopsâ and POS displays.
Fifty eight square metres of fabric were needed to create the Routemaster, but the total weight of the bus comes in at around just 210kg. The bus was designed and built as close as possible to the real thing, but the inside is somewhat different, housing a meeting area, store and kitchen. The lower deck has eight clear windows, and the âpassengersâ at the upper deck printed windows include some of Tecna Displayâs staff and distribution colleagues from around the globe.
Showcasing another great design innovation from Tecna owner Jonathan Evitt, the interior of the bus is illuminated by the brand new Wandlite system, a 360 degree low-voltage, bright LED light tube that is long-lasting and waterproof. Jonathan explains, âWe were incredibly proud to win the Queenâs Award since the last show, and wanted to show off our British credentials at this yearâs Euroshop. What better way than recreating the internationally recognised Routemaster bus? We export to more than 30 countries, and the t3 system has been granted numerous International Patents and Design Registrations worldwide. We design all our own products and manufacture them in both the UK and China. We hold the ISO 9001 quality standard and use the highest quality materials and best practice manufacturing techniques, so we can give a full lifetime guarantee on all our products.
âXG Group of Brackley, Northants printed and supplied the graphics for the bus. It was a very complicated production, which they carried out brilliantly.â
The t3 system has been used for many high profile projects and companies worldwide, including the Brit Awards and Dyson in the UK, X Factor and Nintendo in South Africa, HSBC in Australia, Nespresso in France and the Buddha Museum in Singapore.Â
The t3 family of products include t3Airframe, a revolutionary âtwist-lockâ advanced modular system that holds all sorts of rigid graphics, wood, glass and more; t3Fabframe which handles tensioned fabric graphics and t3-800 â" a very simple t3 system where all the extrusions are the same size and comes with free software to help anyone design and build their own display online and finally; t3Ultralite which is a plastic version of the Airframe for plinths and counters only.
