HP has announced the opening of a 32,000 square foot HP Scitex ink manufacturing plant that will produce HP Scitex UV inks for the new HP Scitex FB10000 Industrial Press announced in June.
This expanded manufacturing capacity demonstrates HPâs commitment to helping print service providers and corrugated converters move from analogue to digital printing processes. The plant implements advanced manufacturing processes with automated production, providing strict quality control for batch-to-batch colour consistency and high-quality colour matching. A new lab, designed to support manufacturing development and quality assurance, provides an innovative work environment for HP Scitex developers.
The facility achieves top performance in sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality. Located next to the existing HP Indigo ink manufacturing facility, both ink plants are the first in HP, as well as in Israel, built according to the strict environmental Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards, a recognised global standard for green building. Both facilities are also ISO 14001 certified, demonstrating HPâs commitment to measuring and helping to improve environmental impact.
âTo win business with big brands, HP Scitex customers require reliable products and inks that offer consistent results at top quality,â said Boaz Perets, general manager, HP Scitex. âThe new HP Scitex ink plant allows us to address these needs and meet the growing demand for HP Scitex UV-curable inks while protecting the environment.â
The HP HDR240 Scitex inks produced at the new plant are used with the HP Scitex FB10000 Industrial Press, powered by HP Scitex High Dynamic Range Printing Technology for high quality and industrial productivity. HP has completed early installations of the press at customer sites in the U.S. and Europe with general commercial availability expected beginning 1st November 2013.
The new facility replaces the HP Scitex plant in Ashkelon, Israel, and is built adjacent to existing HP manufacturing facilities in Kiryat Gat. It joins the Puerto Rico-based HP Scitex plant to produce and provide ink to HP Scitex customers worldwide.
